Director

Riccardo started his career directing short films and music videos that have screened all around the world. He is now focused on long form in both documentary and fiction.

He directed feature documentary ‘A Space in Time’ (2021) with Nick Taussig, to raise awareness of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. The film was BFI backed, theatrically released, and was nominated for “Best Single Documentary” at the prestigious Grierson British Documentary Awards in 2022. The film was acquired by Amazon Prime in the UK and US and also available for free worldwide on Waterbear. It garnered positive reviews in The Guardian, Total Film, Little White Lies, Sight & Sound and many more A Space in Time Reviews.

He is currently in production on his next documentary ‘Dwarf Story’ (2023) a film giving a voice to the dwarfism community to talk about how they have been represented in the media throughout history, how that has influenced society’s views and the repercussions of certain treatments on the rise for children with achondroplasia.

He has two more feature documentaries in development. BODY+MIND an experimental, immersive experience about living with chronic and invisible illnesses and LOVE, a film that explores love from the perspective of sex workers and people who work in the adult film biz etc

The film was produced by Salon Pictures, distributed by Bohemia Media and had a BFI supported theatrical release in the UK in June 2021. You can currently watch the film on Amazon Prime

Riccardo’s style is a mix of free flowing and beautiful considered compositions. His work has been described as intimate, sensitive and insightful. It mostly focuses on the human condition and raising awareness. He often uses metaphors and poetic imagery while focusing on the emotional side of the human psyche. He creates immersive work that helps make abstract ideas and situations more accessible to a wider audience. 

He lives with various chronic conditions including Crohn’s disease. This has shaped his worldview and the way he presents his art with empathy and an inquisitive mind. He uses an observational and conversational style that isn’t rooted in bias or agenda, focusing on giving people a platform to tell their side of the story and their truths.
